I like this place. More authentic than most, they make some truly satisfying Chinese food. You can find dozens of more commercialized alternatives in the area, but Lanshing'll cook some great, warm, tasty, Chinese food in a relaxed setting. Right now I am eating some hot, delicious wonton soup without pretention. The soup bowl is massive with large wontons floating in a rich chicken broth. The cost was $5. The staff is friendly and delivers your food in minutes. As I eat, I am watching the Chinese cook prepare someone else's order fresh. The only disadvantage is that it is counter service rather than table. In any case, I love this place.

We ordered take out and thought the prices were fantastic and the food very good. You get a lot for the price- soup, egg roll, rice, main dish, and a fortune cookie. I liked the sesame chicken quite a bit (though I need to learn to like something that also has veggies in it!) and my husband enjoyed his kung pao chicken. The wonton soup was tasty too. We will be back to visit again!

I've had a lot of Chinese food in Colorado Springs, and this is definitely among the top. I ordered the shrimp and seasonable vegetables for lunch with egg drop soup. The tofu chunks in the soup were huge and the bamboo shoots were good. Their wontons are literally the best I've had. I didn't try the egg roll because it had pork. The shrimp was amazing. The vegetables were good too but I had trouble picking a few up with a fork. They don't have chopsticks, which I found odd, so I'll bring my own next time. The portions were good and priced appropriately. I was also able to have boba or Xing tea with my food, which are better options than any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. I'll try their bean curd (which I didn't realize until after I ordered meant tofu) next time. Also the entrees come with steam, fried, or brown rice. Not sure why a reviewer below said they don't.

Staff very unfriendly. Cost is too high for the quality of food. Chicken was fatty and gooey. I doubt I will be back. Plenty of other options in the area.

Everything is cooked fresh and tastes great. Cost is average compared to most small Chinese restaurants. I always get the General Tso's Chicken (I know it's not "real" Chinese) and I think it's better than P. F. Changs and cheaper. So skip the chain and give this spot a try.

Consistently the best Szechuan chicken I've ever had. And great spring rolls! And hot and sour soup!

What a gem of a restaurant. Had a great Chinese meal at this unassuming place in a strip mall. We had their Mongolian Beef and it was fantastic. The Chow Fun was good too. We had a great time there from a little take out place that could.

Tasty and hot Americanized Chinese food. They have a wide variety of teas. The owners are very friendly and will take time to talk about the traditional benefits of the teas.

Today was the first day that I was going to give this restaurant a shot. We lived in monument, and there's nothing like Columbine gardens! Anyway, I called she said it would take 30min. I was ok with that. I called 35 minutes later asking if it was ready. I was so excited to surprise my hubby with a Chinese dinner. And she said she had more people ahead of me and was not sure how much longer it would be. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she said it was she. Haha I felt like it was a joke. I told her I was upset, and she should had clarified it was going to be longer than 30min! I told her she was getting a bad review and she said owe you can come still and I'll try to have it ready. Too late!!!

So I ate here for the second time today. Their eggroll, white rice, wonton or hot and sour soup, and sesame chicken are good. Today I got kung pao and there was lots of onion and green pepper but no peanuts, I have to have peanuts in my kung pao, it's a staple. I like their food but I feel like it's a quirky little place. If you order to go they don't give you soy sauce, you have to ask for it. If you eat there there's no waitress or anything, there's no soda fountain so you get a bottle of something. And I'm fine with all that because it's just like going to Pei We or McAllisters in that it's not a restaurant, however here at the end they put that little black thing on my table but of course there's no bill in it because you pay for your food when you order it. So I felt like they were hinting at a tip...a tip for what? It was confusing so I think next time I'll just order to go or be prepared with bringing a couple bucks cash I guess?

I can't get enough of Asian food, but I've had enough of Lanshing after just one visit. While the service was friendly, and the food quick; the portions were small even at a lunch price ($6.75+tax). The Schezwan Chicken had a nice heat but was very strange tasting. It was incredibly sweet like pineapple. Lanshing = ehh.

Looking for some Great Chinese food and have tried several places. Thought this place sounded good. Not so much. I called and ordered takeout. The entree's do not include any rice so you have to pay extra for that. I ordered egg rolls and they were in the same shape of a cigar. The lo mein did not have much taste as well as the rice. Sorry but I cannot recommend this place.

I thought this was one of the better places for Chinese food in the area. The beef was tastier than other beef dishes at other restaurants, more tender and juicier. I honestly felt this was a more authentic place and would recommend it.

Yes, I am a fan of fast Asian food. Is this Mark Pi's? No!!! Thank goodness. Why is it good? My kids actually love it and we can walk here; so yes, it is about location of us too. This is the only place where my kids enjoy spicy food. I do not know what they put in their Szechuan Chicken, but my kids absolutely love it and if you try it, the chicken is quite spicy for a kid. They only eat the chicken and then I am stuck with the vegetables, but I love all the vegetables that Lanshing Cafe includes in their dishes; much more than the usual quick wok strip mall joints. Another amazing aspect that my kids enjoy are the soups. Either their tastebuds are developing only at Lanshing-rate or this demonstrates how good Lanshing's food is, but the kiddos enjoy the tofu in the soups and the peas in the egg drop soup. What?? Never before. Unseen anywhere else and I have tested this out elsewhere (besides my kitchen). Worth a try; especially with their cheap lunch combo prices!

One of the few Chinese joints I had not yet tried, so I hit them up last week. This is a rather small restaurant, with limited inside seating and a few tables outside. I really think this place is more popular with the "take out" crowd than the "dine in" crew. You order at counter, and then sit down, and food is brought to you, so it is not a total 'restaurant' style place. With that said, the service was extremely polite and friendly. The food itself was decent enough, and I appreciate the fact that it was not overly-greasy and the stir frys were not laden with lots of brown-gloppy sauce, like the kind you find at most places in town. If you don't like a ton of veggies in your stir frys, they will cut back on them, and offer you a bit more protein. They will also adjust the spice-level for you. Overall, I have to say this place is much better than most so-called Chinese restaurants in this town, and this would be a solid take-out option for me if I lived in the neighborhood. Gets a passing score from this hard-to-please reviewer!

Fresh and delicious Chinese food! Friendly, family owned restaurant. Not your typical greasy, overly sugar-ee Chinese food. If you love Chinese food, you'll love Lanshing Cafe! Best I've tried in the springs, by far!

If you are looking for some fresh, great tasting chinese I highly recommend this place. Its a small owner run restaurant. They greet me everytime I come in as if I am family and place a high emphasis on fresh cooked food, quality, and making you feel welcomed. They have a daily special and a lunch special (comes with rice, soup, egg roll) and some items which aren't on the menu which I love ("spicy seafood soup")... Its not super visible from the main cross streets, but its a tried and true..... looks like they are now closed on Sundays

The best fast Chinese. Try the combos, perfect for one person. Fresh ingredients with light sauces. Forget the factory places like Panda Express enjoy a family run business.

This place is really good...my favorite Chinese in the Springs. I've lived here for about four years and hadn't found a Chinese restaurant that I really love yet. The closest I've come is Xiang's near Powers/Constitution. Lanshing Cafe is so tasty and everything tastes so fresh and bright and never leaves me feeling yucky afterwards like some other Chinese places. No matter where I go I pretty much always order sweet and sour pork or sesame chicken/general chicken and one of my pet peeves is over-cooked pork and poultry...some places just fry it so long that it dries up and is so difficult to chew. I've never had this happen at Lanshing, everything is cooked just perfectly. My favorite thing to get is the Peking style sweet and sour pork. The first time I ordered it they warned me that it didn't come with the typical red sauce, but a milder WHITE sauce. I still decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did. The pork is cut into strips as opposed to chunks which I feel enhances the texture/flavor. It's just amazing. Also, this place has the BEST CRAB RANGOON I've ever had in my life. The filling leans toward the sweet side and isn't too salty which is exactly what I look for in my crab wontons. The sesame chicken is delicious and sweet and garlicky! I've also had the orange chicken and loved it, but my husband always has to ask for it to be extra saucy because he thinks it comes a bit dry, just fyi. Go here, it's wonderful!!

I have dined here twice. Great Chinese food. Menu is standard, but the food is excellent. No Beer or wine nor soda fountain drinks. The hot tea was very good and the cook will customize your meal to your liking. Very good pricing, and great food. Not much in the way of parking so be patient, Lanshing is work the walk.

I agree with the above commenter and wonder if the restaurant paid for the good reviews. This is without a doubt the worst "Chinese" food I've ever had. The crab wontons are just gross with the strangest flavors. My husband and I ordered take-out when a friend was visiting and we all three agreed that this is the most bland, off-taste Chinese food we've ever had.

Really fresh food, and a local mom and pop business, so I feel good eating here.

My wife & I were looking for a close-by Chinese food place, we saw the reviews of Lanshing Cafe and were hopeful that the food was as good as some of the reviewers said it was. I am pleased to announce that the naysayers are wrong. The employee who helped us (owner?) was polite and friendly. I ordered the szechuan shrimp & my wife the cashew shrimp. The portions were generous (easily 20 shrimp in my dish alone), the veggies fresh, and the flavors hit the spot. I think I have a new favorite chinese food place.

did they pay these people to write the other reviews? this is the worst chinese food i've ever had. trust me, i'm asian and grew up eating this food frequently. how do you screw up General Tso's chicken? the fried rice was so bland and bad, i had to drench it with soy sauce; and the chicken in the fried rice had the taste and texture of something i can only describe as something that the astronauts would eat in space. i haven't thrown away food in a long time, but these left overs are definitely going in the dumpster. i just hope i don't get food poisoning. yuck.

THE QUICK VERSION: This place is surprisingly really good. Fresh ingredients with authentic cooking, while still really palatable for American tastes and expectations. No grease to be found either, and amazing flavors and tastes that provide some new experiences to a worn-out genre and menu in most American Chinese restaurants. It is the only place I'll go now in the city for Chinese. And on the plus side, I don't have to fear about finding a moth or cockroach in my food or near my table. Plus, the owners are super nice and will make any substitutions that they can and really talk to you about the menu. I was there one time when one girl ordered orange tofu instead of orange chicken, and they experimented and gave it a go. She loved it and they're thinking about putting it on the menu now. Go give it a try and you'll definitely be back for seconds and thirds. I can't go up to Briargate now without going there, even for just a side of crab and cheese wontons. Orange chicken is to die for along with the hunan vegetable dish. THE LONG VERSION: So I was a little surprised when my friend took me to this place, especially with P.F. Changs right down the block which would be their normal pick. I haven't had the best experience with Chinese in the Springs (I'm from the west coast) and was expecting super greasy, overly sweet, and frozen vegetable slop thrown down in front of me with cockroaches hanging out in the corner for my leftovers (This has been my experience for most of the Chinese restaurants here). Well try again. The decor is your standard tables and chairs, nothing special, but with a surprisingly nice paint job, good lighting, and nice menu, not a dark place with dingy wall paper. There's a few Chinese motif trinkets and art pieces along the wall, but not to the extent that you feel a tourist Chinatown exploded on the walls. It's a nice place to go grab a casual lunch and get in and out if necessary or have a nice leisurely dinner. Or just go straight to the counter to order your take-out and go. But forget the decor, the owners and the food is really where its at. It's obvious this is a family-run business and only the owners and sometimes their daughters are running the show. But for only two people, they move really quickly. We came in with five people, which I feared would take forever, but we got our meals in the same amount of time as it would have been at any other place. And we got a full spread of appetizers, five entrees, drinks and desserts. The orange chicken is to die for and you'll eat it right up. It's fresh and tangy and not overly saturated with sugar. The schezwan beef was served with crisp and fresh, not soggy, vegetables and the spice combination was perfect. The spicy hunan vegetables with bean curd are delicious as well and a favorite amongst my vegetarian friends, along with the eggplant dish. And you'll be in heaven with any of the lo-mein or fried rice options if that's your thing. The noodles actually tasted freshly made or prepared, and had a really nice texture. My suggestion is go with a group of three or so, and try all there is to try. You'll all be stuffed by the end since the portions are fairly large and meant for communal dining. But I'm sure if you're determined, you can polish one dish off by yourself because you'll want to keep eating. A word of warning, they will be out of menu items sometimes. Normally, I'd be upset, but the owner explained he didn't have the garlic eggplant dish available that day because he didn't like how the eggplants looked at the store. That's quality as far as I'm concerned.

This place is delicious. Everything I have ever ordered has been great and their egg rolls are cooked perfectly. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I would never sit down and eat there. The first time I went, we almost walked out because the place looks like you walked in to someone's living room. There were dirty plates left on tables, a computer with textbooks was sitting at another table with no one there and it has been similar every time I've been there. I think they would make more money if they cared about the appearance of their restaurant a little more. So go in, but take it to go and enjoy.

This place has the best jjah jang myun in the state. I've tried several places in Denver that are reviewed as good, but no way they compare. The service here is always top tier. The food is even better. Always fresh and delicious. Family-owned and -run. They are so accommodating and respectful. I live way down south in the Springs, but every chance I'm up this way I stop in for food. Every dish I have tried here is delicious and not overly salted. When my sister comes in from San Francisco, she begs me to take her here at least once during her visit. Do yourself a favor and eat here. I want this place to never go out of business. SO GOOD! All the thumbs up!

We are in the Springs temporarily and so were super pleased to find great Chinese food on the first try! Both my husband and I ordered a combination dinner. My Shrimp lo mein must have been a menu mistake because my order came with eight jumbo Prawns! They were grilled to perfection. The won ton soup was also pretty tasty and our meals were reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
